Hot Coco

I'm a day late, but finally getting my card loaded for May. I had some out of town meetings for work that got in the way of crafting - one day I will learn and have things ready a head of time!  I did manage to get a good portion of my other “project” done and will try to get that loaded soon.

This was another one that I kept clean and simple. Left over piece of pattern paper from one of my previous cads, craft card base, and a stamped out Hot Cocoa Hugs from Your Next Stamp. Colours simply and light pressure with my prisma pencils.

I made the mug the bold focus to go with the paper, and kept the mice, whip topping & marshmallows pale for some contrast.

Cute and Simple

April has been a month of new things, and another round of sick. New role at work has brought in a lot of new experiences, all which have been great so far! I have some new product I ordered from Simon Says Stamp, I will show that off once it gets here. Also, I have an order coming from Winnie and Walter. Can't wait for those to come. There were some birthdays, and a baby shower. As typical of me, I forgot to take pictures of the cards!

Now that I’m feeling better I finally had time to get my monthly Christmas card made. I've kept this one simple and pretty. Image is from Art Impression, Holly Jolly set, and I did some very basic Copic colouring, only 1-2 markers. I used SSS stitched rectangles and some patterns paper. The card was finished with some sequins from Studio Katia, 4mm Icy Breeze and a medium clear round drop on the hats pompom - unfortunately hard to see in the picture.
Happy crafting!

Out of the Comfort Zone

March has had be a bit pressed for time. Birthday, crazy over time, brother coming home, busted work chair, messy dripping pantry (thank you exploded soda can! There’s a reason I don’t normally have this stuff in the house haha!) and a new role at my full-time job. Tomorrow brings a busy day of cleaning, moving things around, shopping, and TAXES.

Sticking to my commitment, I've made a simple card but it’s out of my comfort zone. White on white with a pop of water colour in Santa. Using a Sizzix Embossing Folder (Christmas Words, which I think is now retired?) and a water coloured Santa2Stamp from Stamps of Life this card turned out better than I though!  I added some Black Tsukineko Irresistibles on the eyes to make them pop.

I have another project I’ve started and will hopefully have that posted soon, stay tuned!

Prisma Practice

This month I kept things very simple and easy. I’ve been focusing on my Prisma colouring, experimenting with different papers trying to find what I prefer. This card was stamped with the Misti, using SSS blank ink. The stamp is one I showed before from Stampendous.

I see all these beautiful pencil colouring and wondering why I can’t achieve the same affect. Layering. The answer is layering. I’ve been watching videos and that’s what I’m missing. So this time I have practiced my layers, taking my time and got some of the best results I’ve had. I’m keeping it simple with a ginger cat as inspiration.

Here’s my finished product.  Simple patterned paper red frame, cut with SSS stitched rectangles and glued to a top folding note card.

Back in Action!

Well, that was an unexpected break! While Christmas with family was awesome, I soon after lost my computer. 6 years later and the poor thing finally died. I managed to get everything backed up thankfully so nothing was lost. The struggle between getting a new PC or an iMac was a tough one. I eventually settled on a PC as most of my current work and programs are PC format. However, there is an iPad in the not to distant future.

I am not a fan of making resolutions, I feel its only setting myself up to fail. I will however set some reasonable goals I would like to accomplish over the year. This leaves me open for some good times and achievements as well as opportunity to forgive myself if I should fail a little bit on this goal, or need to start over.  One of my goals this year is to blog every month. I plan on accomplishing this by making 1 Christmas card or more a month. This will also ease some of the mad dash to make cards in November – win win!
To help this goal along, I’ve bought myself a few little treats I’ve wonted for a while from Amazon. A pair of EK Success tweezers, post it tape, and an EK Success powder tool. There were also some non-craft related treats like a TubShroom, iPhone holder, and this can drainer.

I also picked up a Y15 Copic, watercolour paper and some mixed media paper to try out, when I grabbed some picture frames for my fan expo autographs. My craft room doubles as my office and guest room – it's my little nerd haven. I will do a room tour once things are done and together.

To put this new mixed media paper to the test I used this cute stamp from Your Next Stamp, Seasonal Sweeties which unfortunately doesn’t seem to be available any more.
For this card, I used my Prisma colors, gamsol, clean colour real brush markers, and attempted Copics but that did not work very well.  I’m enjoying the texture of the paper, its allowing for single layer like I did here, multiple layers and it blends nicely with gamsol.
